Welcome to Christ’s Center!

We are a non-denominational church in Junction City, Oregon. We gather every Sunday morning at 10am, and we meet in various groups throughout the week. If you’re looking for an inter-generational church that takes seriously Jesus’ call to follow Him and to love our neighbors, come worship with us.

9:30 am – Coffee, Baked Goods, and Fellowship

Served in the hallway, enjoyed all over the building.

10 am – Worship Begins

Our worship team plays a mix of modern worship music, 90s throwbacks, and classic hymns. Expect some of the kids to be twirling ribbons and dancing, because they stay in the service with us. We will take communion before the last song.

10:35ish – Missions Minute

Pastor Jeff leads us in a quick prayer time for one of our missionaries.

10:40ish – Welcome, Offering & Announcements

Carlie Davis and Janell (or Jason) welcome us and keep us updated on the happenings of the congregation that week.

10:50ish – Kids go to kids’ church, Sermon begins

Pastor Joshua or Jason will bring the word.

11:30ish

Post-service prayer and dismissal

Our kids stay with us during worship and announcements every Sunday. When those are finished (usually somewhere around 10:45), kids age three up to fifth grade will go to Kids’ Church classes, where they will get a great lesson from the Bible, and have some fun with snacks and goldfish. (Click here for more on Kids Church.)

The nursery is open for the whole service, as is our Open Heavens Room for those with sensory needs.

Christ’s Center is a Gospel Movement Church. That means we are part of a unified, holistic effort by the citywide church to seek the peace and prosperity of a community. We do this primarily by working with The One Hope Network and the Junction City Ministerial Association. We seek God together in communal worship gatherings, serve the city Willamette Valley in strategic efforts like Project Hope, and share the good news of Jesus all around the valley.

Christ’s Center was founded in 1975 by Pastor Jon Bowers. It began as a bible study in Pastor Jon’s barn on Lovelake Rd. Every Saturday night, friends from area churches would gather to worship, pray, hear Jon preach, and listen to the mice running across the rafters. Soon, Jon’s friend Pastor Roy Hicks told him, “Jon, you’ve got a church here.”

Later that year, the fellowship bought the old Center Elementary School at 530 W 7th Ave, and chose the name “Christ’s Center.” They began by meeting in the cafeteria building, but soon grew and began meeting in the gymnasium. They also started Christ’s Center School, which ran for three whole decades.

In 2008, Pastor Jon stepped back, and Pastor Joshua Rivas became the senior leader. Throughout the years, Christ’s Center Church has always had a Kingdom focus, expressed both through international missions and local outreach. We work side by side with other agencies, churches, ministries, and even government organizations for the common good of our neighbors across the street and around the world.

  • God is a good Father
  • Jesus Christ is both Savior & Lord
  • The Holy Spirit is Active
  • We are sons & daughters first
  • Our sins separated us from God
  • Christ redeems us
  • The church is God’s family on earth
  • The church exists to glorify God on earth
  • The church works together to expand God’s family
  • The Gospel of the Kingdom is the only hope for mankind
  • We are called to Extend God’s kingdom on earth
  • The Kingdom is Already & Not Yet

We believe that there is only one true God who is the eternal King, Creator and Redeemer of all creation. He is perfectly holy, just, loving and truthful. He has revealed Himself to be the eternally self-existent one being manifested as: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God, and the rule of faith and practice for all believers in Christ, and that the Scriptures along with the power of the Holy Spirit are the primary means of guidance and strength for all Christians.

Humankind was created in the image of God to know and enjoy Him, yet we willfully rejected the Lordship and glory of God for which we were intended. Because of this, sickness, death and judgment entered the world and now creation experiences the effects and consequences of sin.

The Lord Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin, Mary, and is God’s Anointed One, empowered by the Holy Spirit to inaugurate God’s Kingdom on earth. He was crucified for our sins, died, was buried, resurrected and ascended into heaven, and is now alive today, in the presence of God the Father and in His people. He is “true God” and “true man.” The victorious redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides freedom from the power of the enemy – sin, lies, sickness, poverty, and torment.

We are saved by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. Anyone can be restored to fellowship with God through repenting, believing and receiving Jesus as their Savior and Lord. The Holy Spirit, convicts, regenerates, justifies, and adopts us as we enter the Kingdom of God as His sons and daughters.

We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live holy and minister supernaturally. The baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 1:4-8 and 2:4 is poured out on believers that they might have power to be witnesses.

The Church consists of all who put their faith in Jesus Christ. He gave His church the ordinances of Baptism and Communion. The Church exists to carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ and further advance His kingdom by undoing the works of the enemy, preaching and living the good news of God’s love, discipling all peoples, baptizing and teaching them to love and obey God.

We believe in the ever increasing government of God and in the Blessed Hope, which is the glorious visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ for His overcoming bride – His church. Heaven and hell are real places. There will be a resurrection of the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting death.

Here‘s what last Sunday’s Service Looked Like

Our Associations

Christ’s Center has been an independent church, non-denominational church since we kicked off in 1975. But that doesn’t mean we are independent of the body of Christ. We maintain close, personal connections with church leaders and networks of leaders, both regionally and across the country. Here are the primary ones:

One Hope Network

One Hope of Lane County is a network of diverse churches and ministries from all across the Willamette Valley who join together to show Jesus’ love throughout our local communities. One Hope is led by Steve Buss, a well respected long time missionary and pastor who speaks to our own congregation at least once a year.

Streams of Mercy

For more than three decades, Christ’s Center has recognized long time YWAM leaders Wick & Jan Nease as apostolic leaders and outside elders. Wick is now the director of Streams of Mercy, an international ministry network of orphanages. We are involved in sending missions teams to these orphanages, and Wick and Jan visit Christ’s Center multiple times a year, offering support, counsel and insight from an outside perspective.
