The “Open Heavens” Room for Our Special Kids
The statistics are rising, especially in Oregon for some reason: Autism is now affecting more than 1 in 100 new babies. We believe the Church can and should respond to this crisis! This is a very close issue to our hearts at Christ’s Center, as we have three boys who have already been diagnosed with autism, including the son of Jason and Sara Hague, our associate pastors.
Fortunately, their experiences have paved the way for us to hire a professional caregiver to work with our kids every Sunday morning from 9:000 till the end of church (12:15ish), giving their families a chance to enjoy the presence of God during Sunday School and the church service without the stress of worrying about their child. (We know first hand how stressful this can be for parents!)
The Open Heavens Room is currently located in the Northeast wing of the building (ask someone if you can’t find it), but it will soon be moving across the building to a larger room. We want to encourage you to join us, and to invite families of special needs kids. Together, as we heap love, wisdom and prayers upon these dear children, we believe there will come a day when we see “Heaven Opened;” where God’s powerful touch surrounds them and heals them!
