Project Hope! (A Look Back)

In case you missed it (and if you did, you MISSED OUT!), Christ’s Center joined more than 50 other ministries and churches from all around Lane County this past weekend for Project Hope. It was a mission to bless the schools of Lane County before the bell rang.

On Saturday, Christ’s Center joined forces with three other Junction City churches. There were more than 100 volunteers involved. We met at the high school, divided up into 4 teams of workers, divvied up supplies, and went to work cleaning, landscaping and beautifying schools around Junction City. That included the High School, Oaklea Middle School, Laurel Elementary, and Territorial Elementary. It was wonderful to sweat together, and to see the thankful looks in the eyes of the teachers. And we did a good job. Those schools look terrific! Check out the video from KVAL.

And then on Sunday we joined with an even larger group in the Autzen Stadium parking lot to give away backpacks and school supplies to thousands of families with school children. The supplies were purchased through donations from area churches, ministries, and businesses. Our church alone put in more than $1500 for the supplies in addition to sending more than 50 of our coolest people on Sunday afternoon to help with the festivities. It was more of a party than it was a charity event!

“Project Hope” was masterminded by “One Hope of Lane County,” the terrific partnership of churches around Lane County led by the fabulous Pastor Steve Buss. As a church, we are very tight with Steve and the entire organization. We are, after all, one church!
